Levi Strauss continues on the eco-friendly path with its latest ‘swap your jeans’ recycling initiative.
The denim company isn’t new to sustainability practices, but has added another feather to its ‘green cap’ with this programme. To reduce the staggering amount of denim and other clothes that end up in landfills (23.8 billion pounds in United States alone), the company has started accepting used clothes and shoes in clean, dry and wearable condition at its stores and outlets in the US. Under its new recycling initiative, customers will receive a 20% discount voucher when they drop off old clothes at an outlet. Other environment friendly techniques adopted by Levi’s include using recycled water and recycled materials, and reducing water consumption in manufacture of jeans.
